Access Statement for Garslade Guest House
Pre-Arrival:
We can be contacted by telephone (landline or mobile), e-mail or post
There are three main accesses to the town of Padstow. By train, to Bodmin Parkway Station, and from there, by bus or taxi. By car take the M5 and then A30. Or Coach service to Wadebridge and from there, by bus or taxi. There are flights into Newquay Airport from a few cities in the UK and Ireland and from there by bus or taxi.
To get to Garslade, you must take the second junction into Padstow, sign-posted Padstow Parish Church, and not the first one into the town centre. This is because church Street is one of the few one-way streets in Padstow and you won't be able to drive up here. Please follow my instructions that I will send with written confirmation and not sat navs, which will direct you through some very narrow lanes.
Garslade is situated in the old part of town, up the hill from the harbour. Main shops, restaurants, banks and pubs are within easy reach, a 5 to 10 minute walk from the house.
Arrival:
Garslade: This is a very old house and although it has been completely refurbished, I'm afraid the front door and bedroom doors would not accommodate a wheel chair. There are one step in the main hall and thirteen steps up to both rooms, with two landings in between. The rooms are both decorated in tones of reds and pinks, with cream and white bed linen and dark-coloured furniture. The bath in the four-poster room has three steps for you to climb into/The other double has a walk in shower.
